Reiki to Honor Black History Month

We are always looking to connect with community groups in Chicago, and were thrilled that a Restorative Justice Zoom meeting lead to an invitation to participate in the Black History Month service fair at Michele Clark High School.

Joanna and I were treated to a exhibition by the school’s Color Guard and a moving dance performance, and we gave a number of attendees their first reiki sessions.

We loved the T-shirts and their message:

BLACK HISTORY
learn it
live it
make it
365 days a year

I got some chuckles when I said reiki could help move out energetically stored trauma—including generational trauma. But after the sessions, wide-eyed recipients more readily agreed that was possible.

Joanna’s sessions were popular with members of the CPD’s 15th District, who also had a booth at the event and were making connections with students and community members.

Thanks to Michele Clark for having us and the CPD for helping us make the connection—good stuff!
