Reiki for the Arrupe College Wellness Fair

Arrupe College is Loyola University’s sister campus. We were happy to help spread some reiki love amongst students and faculty at their annual wellness fair. Responses to the sessions were candid, as they frequently are with younger folks.

Favorite feedback: “It was weird as I thought several people were around me!”

We reiki practitioners know reiki is spiritually guided energy, though it’s not usually our go-to explanation, as it tends to turn people off. So it’s especially gratifying when someone new to the practice uses language that reflects the more spiritual aspects of reiki.

Some students tittered and giggled at the door with their friends. Others boldly walked in and asked to try reiki. The second group were rewarded with reiki experiences.

We had four volunteers offering reiki and one managing the line (and taking pix).

We recorded some profound results with our Before and After surveys. According to feedback, participants’ stress was reduced 3.95 units and pain was reduced 2.37 units. Not bad for ten minutes of sitting calmly!

Thanks to Barb, Sophie and Mario for volunteering with me yesterday. We felt very accomplished after introducing 23 folks to reiki.

And thanks to Arrupe College for continuing to include us in their Wellness Fair.
